Several books have previously anthologised articles first published in Doctor Who fanzines but never before has a comprehensive history of the Doctor Who fanzines scene been attempted, until now. Published by Telos Publishing late last year, The Fanzine Book
I grabbed a copy of this and loved it just as much as you. I became a fan during the 2000s, so fanzines were pretty much in my past. I was always curious though, and collected a few issues of Celestial Toyroom from the late 80s and 1990s. Also, for a very brief moment, there seemed to be a small resurgence in fanzines (alongside blogs) in the 2000s - Panic Moon springs to mind - and I wish some of them had continued. The internet has all but wiped away the need for a zine, but I still love the feeling of holding something physical and flicking through it. I'm grateful that Vworp Vworp is still publishing, but I still miss the more archaic less-glossy stapled together zines of yesteryear.
